If you aim to write, you must read. Teachers don’t need any persuasion to read a book, but you’d be surprised how many wannabe writers claim they don’t have time to read. (Shocking, huh?) At my first writing conference, every class teacher—and every keynote speaker shared the same advice—READ.
Once home, I determined to be a writer. Baby, I was thrilled with my first assignment as a new writer. With a pile of new books written by each conference presenter, I read in stolen minutes, waiting rooms, and the eve before bedtime. My reading pile didn’t dwindle for over a year.
